5 Steps to Uncover & Remove Your Conception Blocks

Step 1 – Recognizing Your Known Blocks to Conception
To start this process, we’ll focus on addressing the emotional blocks you are already aware of that may be hindering your ability to conceive. Emotional barriers to conception aren’t something that can typically be tested in a fertility clinic, but they can be just as real. Your body is incredibly wise and will protect you in ways that might prevent you from becoming pregnant if it feels that the timing or circumstances aren’t right. Identifying and addressing these emotional barriers is key to preparing yourself mentally and emotionally for parenthood.

Using Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), you can clear away fears, doubts, and uncertainties, helping you feel safe and confident about your future, including pregnancy and parenting.

Think about the emotions that arise when you consider pregnancy, childbirth, or becoming a parent. Common blocks can relate to thoughts, beliefs, health, and lifestyle. Are there specific fears or doubts you can identify that may be standing in your way?

Step 1 EFT Exercise:

  1. Grab a piece of paper or open a digital document. Write down a few (no more than 4 or 5) emotional issues you believe may be blocking your path to conception. For example:
    • “I’m scared I’ll be a bad parent.”
    • “I’m afraid I won’t have enough time to balance a baby with my job.”
    • “I’m terrified of childbirth.”
  2. For each issue, rate on a scale of 0-10 how strongly you feel the emotion attached to it, where 10 is the strongest belief or fear.
  3. Begin applying EFT by tapping on the Karate Chop point and using the setup phrase:
    “Even though I feel (insert issue), I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
    Repeat this three times while tapping on the Karate Chop point.
  4. Tap through the points below while repeating the reminder phrase:
    “I feel (insert issue)”

    • Top of Head
    • Eyebrow
    • Side of Eye
    • Under Eye
    • Under Nose
    • Chin
    • Collarbone
    • Underarm
  5. After completing a round, revisit the issue, and rate its intensity again on the 0-10 scale. Repeat this process until the intensity reduces to 0.

Step 2 – Uncovering Conception Blocks from Your Past
Now that you’ve worked through some of the obvious issues, it’s time to look deeper into your past. Emotional experiences related to pregnancy, childbirth, or parenting may have left subconscious imprints that are still influencing your current beliefs. For example, childhood exposure to birth stories, fears surrounding childbirth, or even difficult past experiences like miscarriage or termination may cause lingering emotional blocks.

Step 2 EFT Exercise:

  1. Take a moment to reflect on your past, especially childhood and early adulthood. Are there any experiences related to pregnancy, childbirth, or parenting that may have created emotional attachments like fear, anxiety, or worry?
  2. List these memories, and rate the intensity of the emotion associated with each (0-10 scale).
  3. Apply EFT with the setup phrase:
    “Even though I feel (emotion) about (memory), I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
  4. Tap through the points while repeating a reminder phrase like, “I’m anxious about my friend’s birth story.”
  5. After each round, re-rate the intensity and continue tapping until the emotion diminishes.

Step 3 – Identifying Conception Blocks in Your Present Life
Now, we turn to your current lifestyle to identify any blocks to conception. Look at areas such as your relationship, career, health, emotional well-being, and overall environment. While no one’s life is perfect for bringing a baby into the world, it’s how you feel about these areas that matters most. We will address any negative emotions you may have about where you are in life right now and how a baby might fit into your current reality.

Step 3 EFT Exercise:

  1. Think about your current lifestyle. Imagine bringing a baby into your world. Are there any areas where a child doesn’t seem to fit in, or does the idea cause anxiety, fear, or worry?
  2. List these areas and rate the intensity of the negative emotion (0-10 scale).
  3. Apply EFT using the setup phrase:
    “Even though I feel (emotion) about (issue), I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
  4. Tap through the points, repeating a reminder phrase such as, “I’m worried my career will suffer if I have a baby.”
  5. Continue this process until the intensity of the emotion is reduced.

Step 4 – Addressing Future Fears and Anxieties
You’ve explored your past and present; now let’s look ahead. How do you feel about your future with children in your life? Fears about the future can manifest as anxiety or apprehension, whether it’s about the changes parenthood will bring, or even the possibility of never conceiving at all. This step will help you clear fears about both becoming a parent and the possibility that your future may not include children.

Step 4 EFT Exercise:

  1. Reflect on your vision of the future with a child. What changes do you expect, and how do you feel about them? Are there any emotions such as fear, anxiety, or doubt about your ability to conceive or your life with children?
  2. List these fears and rate their intensity (0-10 scale).
  3. Apply EFT with the setup phrase:
    “Even though when I think about my future with a child, I feel (emotion) about (issue), I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
  4. Tap through the points, repeating a reminder phrase like, “I’m anxious that my relationship will change once we have a baby.”
  5. Reassess the intensity and continue tapping until you feel at peace.

Bonus Tapping for Future Fears:
If you feel anxiety about the future, try this tapping script to ease the worry:

  • “Even though I’m scared that my future may not include children, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
    Tap through the points while saying:

    • “I’m worried I may never have a baby.”
    • “I’m anxious that I’ll never conceive.”
    • “I can’t bear the thought of never having children.”

Continue tapping through the points while shifting your focus to releasing those fears and opening yourself up to possibilities.

Step 5 – Discovering Hidden Blocks to Conception
You’ve worked through the most obvious blocks, but sometimes hidden issues can still arise. This final step is about remaining open to uncovering any remaining blocks. If new thoughts, memories, or feelings come up, you’ll address them with EFT.

Step 5 EFT Exercise:

  1. Keep your mind open and relaxed as you tap, allowing any new thoughts, memories, or ideas to surface. Write them down as they come up.
  2. Use the following tapping setup phrase:
    “Even though I don’t know what may be preventing me from getting pregnant, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
  3. Tap through the points, repeating reminder phrases such as, “I’m not sure if I have any remaining blocks to pregnancy.”
  4. Continue tapping until any new blocks are released and you feel at ease.

Taking the time to address your emotional blocks surrounding conception is a powerful step toward creating the space for your future child. It is important to remember that every journey is unique, and while these steps can help uncover and release emotional barriers, the process may take time. Be gentle with yourself and trust in the process of healing. Your body, mind, and spirit are working together to bring you closer to your goal, and through consistent effort, you’ll create the emotional readiness to welcome a new chapter in your life.
